In March 2020, Sant'Anna will host Alan Kirman, a scholar whose research interests are closely related to EMbeDS.

Alan Kirman is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the Aix-Marseille University and at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. His PhD is from Princeton and he has been professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University, the Universte Libre de Bruxelles, Warweck University and the European University Institute in Florence. He was elected fellow of the Econometric Society and awarded the Humboldt Prize. He is also a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

Alan's research has recently focused on the relationship between individual and collective economic behaviour. He has worked on general equilibrium theory, international commerce, game theory and mathematics, information, welfare and public decision-making economics. He has published 150 articles in scientific journals. He is the author and editor of twelve books. His most recent book, titled "Complex Economics: Individual and Collective Rationality" was published in July 2010 by Routledge.
